CD Cover Photoshoot: Central London

After the successful shoot at the studio, we've decided to head out to London where we could gather more photos with a scenery for the background. The old church at Dunstan's Hill was a great place as of the mix of greenery and cracked walls, whilst the skyscrapers around the River Thames were ideal for the double exposure effect that we took inspiration from. Foggy weather also helped add in a gloomy effect, which made it a good day for the shoot.

These are the mock ups for the magazine advert that we made using Photoshop also, they are included in our Pitch and all have a similar styles which reflect our music video. We used G - Eazy as there werent many usable images of Logic available.

Team Meeting: Research Album Covers

we analysed a few album covers in order to get some inspiration for our own. We found some really creative ones that suit our song/genre and that are simple to make in photoshop. we used Behance.net which provides a wide range of artists as well as looking at our artist's (Logic) album covers. We have decided on our three case studies: Logic - Undeniable, G Eazy - The Endless Summer and These Things Happen.

These are some album covers we looked at in Behance:

Team Meeting: CD Cover Pitch

In today's lesson we started designing our pitch using Google slides, this is so we can all work on it together as the document is shared between us. we started by choosing our own individual cd covers to take inspiration from. we have made some mock ups for the pitch:

Final Music Video: Logic - 5am

Editing Week 3

This week we added all the effects to the video including colour correction and any effects like blurring the video. This was done by adding adjustment layers in Premiere Pro as well as using After Effects which had more tools available. Spencer added most of the effects as he knows how to use these tools.

Rough Cut Screening/Feedback

This is our unfinished cut - we screened it to a class of our peers. They are our target audience and can provide useful feedback.

The class feedback was very useful, as the class gave us specific notes on our video, the main one being some lip synch issues which we will fix, there were also some issues with camera movement which we can also fix using After Effects. Overall, the class thought our video was very high quality and impressive and the main things they praised were the lighting, the effects and most of the camera work.

Editing: Week 2

Each lesson we rotate who edits the video while we direct and add our ideas, working on the chorus of the song which is one of the most complex parts.
we have finished the edit of the video and now we have to add effects to the video such as colour/lighting correction as well as aesthetic changes to make it visually appealing.

Editing Week 1

We have started to add adjustment layers in order to colour correct or add effects to the shots, we also plan to add most of our effects after the edit is completely finished.

Filming Week 4: National Theatre and Leake Street

We filmed at the National Theatre which was our final location, the filming went well as the lighting outside was bright. The architecture there made for great shots and composition, we would have filmed at twilight where the lighting would be more cinematic but we ran out of time. However, all the footage we did film was good quality

We reshot footage at Leake Street in order to get better shots and complete the story. There were new graffitti designs which were visually appealing, and we got everything we needed to complete the video in editing.

Filming week 3: Studio

We filmed in the TV studio which allowed us to control the lighting which made for a better in camera look. This was the final footage we needed so now we can edit and complete the video.

Filming Week 2: Sky Garden

We filmed in Sky Garden and it went well, it looked very visually appealing and the view was fascinating, however we arrived a little late due to transport delays so we had less time to film, But what we did film looked good.

Filming: Week 1: Leake Street

Filming in the Leake street tunnel was successful and fun to do. We filmed most of our scenes that we storyboarded, as well as additional footage, so we have a lot to pull from in editing. we all took turns filming except Spencer who was the main performer. The only issue we came across was lighting but we used that to our advantage as we used silhouette shots and filmed in brightest places, we also filmed earlier so it was lighter, we didn't get to film all our scenes so we may have to reshoot here at a later date.

Team Meeting: Leake street

We discussed where to meet in order to film and to remind each other to bring the equipment. This allowed us more time for filming as we didnt use up time waiting or not being able to film because a member forgot something.
